Our commitment to sustainable development

Sustainable development is about meeting the needs of today without destroying the opportunities of future generations.

 

Sustainability affects everything we do. Human beings are our most important resource.  Welfare, safety and occupational disease-free workplaces are most important. At the same time, we must do our part to ensure sustainable societies, affect the environment as little as possible and ensure responsible actions.

Clean and renewable energy

TESS BRAZIL captures photovoltaic energy to supply its industrial activities, generating an average of 5,700 kWh per month.

The production and consumption of clean and renewable energy are fundamental for the protection of the environment and responsibility to future generations.

"The Bike Day"

What started as a small initiative quickly grew and TESS employees adopted pedal groups on weekends, improving the quality of life for employees and reducing CO² in the environment.

In celebration of World Environment Day, an action was carried out on 06/06/2022 with a focus on environmental sustainability, which is one of our essential values. We started with “Bike Day” and “Sustainable Ride” which aims to reduce the number of cars in traffic, the high consumption of fossil fuels, the emission of polluting gases, congestion and noise pollution, which are some of the biggest traffic problems in Macaé and in the world.

Reuse of rainwater

We reuse rainwater for the maintenance of the company's daily needs, such as in the use of toilets, kitchen and hydrostatic tests.

 

Small actions with big results

TESS has also taken some actions, such as:

Selective collect

As benefits of selective collection and correct disposal of waste, we can highlight the reduction of pollution, savings in energy and water consumption, reduction of expenses with urban cleaning and the generation of employment and income through the sale of recyclables.

Oil and water separation system

We have a system for separating oil from water that is reused in activities in the production process of the operational sector.

The oil and water separator is a system used to receive effluents and water contaminated with oils and greases from operational maintenance areas and the hose flushing process, which, through the use of a physical method, separates water and oil. This process promotes the effectiveness of the separation of the components and guarantees the preservation of the environment.

Reverse logistics and proper waste disposal

Reverse logistics is one of the essential environmental processes for the establishment and effective functioning of the circular economy and one of its main steps is the final disposal of waste. 

The benefits of reverse logistics are many: reinserting raw materials into the production chain, saving natural resources, reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere and reducing the discharge of solid waste into landfills.

Following this sustainable vision, TESS BRAZIL is concerned with producing its gifts with biodegradable and recyclable materials with the intention of contributing to the preservation of our planet.

One of the products we use to propagate the Brand is the seed pen, which is biodegradable. The existing plastic in its composition is made of PLA plastic, which in addition to being biodegradable is recyclable, biocompatible, compostable and bioabsorbable under ideal conditions. Below you can see the best places for optimal disposal.

After receiving your seed pen, remove the compartment with the seeds and plant them directly in prepared soil. In a few days the seeds will be germinating and you have contributed to nature.

Biodegradable plastics are made from renewable sources, and can be of natural origin, such as corn, cassava and beetroot, or synthetic. They are a more ecological alternative to common plastic, of fossil origin. A great advantage is that they are less persistent in the environment, being able to be biodegraded by bacteria, algae and fungi, which convert them into biomass, carbon dioxide and water, not generating microplastics.

CONSCIOUS DISPOSAL OF PLA PLASTIC
The biodegradation of plastic depends on correct disposal and selective collection, because, if this does not occur, such plastic will persist in nature as a conventional plastic. Therefore, plastic only biodegrades if it is taken to an industrial composting plant, in which adequate physical conditions, such as light, humidity and heat, and microorganisms will decompose the material in about 180 days.

WHITE FIG TREE (Ficus guaranitica.)
The tree is leafy, providing great shade, so it is normally used for rural afforestation and eventually for landscaping squares and gardens. It is also indicated for the composition of reforestations destined to the recomposition of degraded areas of permanent preservation.

SEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
Place the seeds for germination in shaded beds with sieved substrate, there is no need to cover the seeds. When the plants are between 4 and 6 cm high, transplant them into individual containers containing soil fertilized with tanned barnyard manure. Germination time is 20 to 60 days.
